Gratitude!

Gratitude!

We’ve heard a lot about how being grateful for the little things in life is key to happiness and abundance. But what is it to be grateful? How do I feel gratitude? Is it just closing my eyes and saying “Thank You” strongly?

The other day I was driving far routes, tired of driving for hours and only wishing to get home as soon as possible. On the left of the route, I saw a wonderful and quiet lake, shining sunlight on its surface as a mirror, surrounded by trees and green and yellow grass. I was delighted by the peaceful image and the serenity that it inspired me.  Is that being grateful?

At another moment, I was walking outside on a cold day wishing to be at home and get warm. But suddenly I felt the sun’s heat on my face and all over me. I felt covered by a delicate heat layer. I inhaled so profoundly as if the heat could also cover inside of me.  Is that being grateful?

Yesterday, I just heard a person talking about our power as human beings. The power of our minds. The energy that we and all the things around us are. The connection between us and the Universe. I felt happy to remember that I am part of everything. That I have the power to make changes. That I am made up of energy. Is that being grateful?

Yes, I think it is. Being grateful is feeling it. Not just listing things and saying, “thank you”. It is a deep emotion that a small stimulus can wake up. And you feel it. And it is as if your body says Thank You with no words.
